REIGN's Master/Apprentice System

REIGN Master/Apprentice System

Eligibility »

  • Open to all FULL members of Reign

Description »

Any full guild member is welcome to participate in the Trials system (for Bounty Hunters and Imperial Agents) or the Master/Apprentice system (for Sith Inquisitors and Sith Warriors). These systems are COMPLETELY 100% OPTIONAL, but carry with them some cool benefits and will be very fun should you choose to participate.

For a period of eight (8) weeks, Bounty Hunters and Imperial Agents are paired up with a designated "Expert"-level REIGN member while Sith Inquisitors and Sith Warriors are paired with a "Sith Master." The Expert/Master will delegate tasks to be carried out. The tasks will be varied and will have different types of requirements. The Expert/Master will pull tasks from a preset list but may also craft some of their very own. The idea is that you must fulfill each task per the requirements and gain the favor of your assigned Expert/Master in order to successfully complete your Trial or Apprenticeship!

If you decide to undergo these systems, note that they take 8 weeks minimum to complete and during this time your current rank is locked in place.

Success

Successful completion of the system will yield you the honor of carrying the "Expert" or the "Sith Master" designation of your rank. On top of all that, there are a few more additional benefits described below.

Failure

If you fail, you will be removed from the system and will not be privy to the benefits awarded for successful completion. You may, however, request to try your hand again at a future date if you so desire.

It's a risky endeavor, but worth the effort, for success means you are deemed to be an elite member of REIGN and will have the Expert/Sith Master rank designation to prove it!

Trials and Apprenticeships are meant to be a long and difficult road. It is by no means for the weak at heart. It takes time, dedication and commitment to prove your worth to the Empire as an elite member of REIGN. In addition, your Expert or Sith Master is the one to which you need to prove your worth. They are your key to success so you must do everything in your power to please them and fulfill your duties as their subordinate/apprentice!

How to Enroll »

To get started, simply follow the instructions in the How to Enroll thread in our forums. (Accessible only by full members of REIGN.)

Upon signing up and being placed into a scheduled class, the system leaders will determine with whom to pair you up with and will make an official announcement of the start and end dates of the Trial/Apprenticeship. From there, it is up to your Expert/Master to initiate the system and get started.

You may NOT request a specific Expert/Master. This is to alleviate any issues of favoritism or being in cahoots in which the system may not be carried out fairly. By the same token, you can request to NOT be paired with a particular Expert/Master in the event that there is a conflict of personalities or a history that alludes to the idea that the system will not be carried out fairly.

You will then be set up with your own "Trial" or "Master/Apprentice" forum section in which your tasks will be delegated and you can play out the system. You will need to keep tabs on this section to be sure you don't miss any tasks. You can also use this section to coordinate details of the apprenticeship with your Expert/Master in order to let them know if any particular task cannot be performed for any reason.

In addition, it is encouraged to use that section as your personal RP section during your Trials or Apprenticeship. This is a great opportunity to build a bond with your assigned Expert/Master and have a great deal of fun while doing so!

Tasks »

Your Expert/Master will determine what tasks they wish you to undertake. They will have a set of predefined tasks from which they can pick and choose what you must fulfill at any given moment (and they may come up with additional tasks on their own... within reason that is). The sample set of predefined tasks may include such things as the following:

  • You must create your character's template in Reign's RP forums section.

  • You must write your character's back story in Reign's RP forums section.

  • You must bump Reign's recruitment thread on the SWTOR forums with a meaningul post about what makes this guild so great.

  • You must provide proof that you are donning the Reign guild signature on the SWTOR forums.

  • You must put "In servitude to Master {Name}" in your sig.

  • You must post at least one meaningful post per day in the Reign forums each day for 5 days in a row.

  • Participate in 'X' number of Warzones with your Expert/Master.

  • Locate all the Datacrons on 'X' planet.

This list is just a sample of the kinds of things your Expert/Master may require you to do.

The Expert/Master may assign time frames in which a task must be completed. For example: "You must post a meaningful response to {X} topic thread within {Y} days from now."

Basic Rules & Requirements »

In order to complete your Trials/Apprenticeship, you will have to meet the following requirements:

  • You MUST complete EVERY task your Expert/Master assigns to you (and within the time frame it is assigned in, if designated). Any disregard of your Expert's/Master's orders, or failure to meet their requirements, can result in the termination of your Trials/Apprenticeship.

  • Your Trials/Apprenticeship will last for a period NO LESS THAN eight (8) weeks. If during that time, you do anything that displeases your Expert/Master, they can terminate your Trials/Apprenticeship and you will have to try again (if you so choose).

  • You must display utmost respect for your Expert/Master AT ALL TIMES. Any disrespect to them can result in termination of the Trial/Apprenticeship.

  • The only time you are welcome to speak freely without permission and post out of character within the Master/Apprentice & Trials forum section is within the General Discussion section.

  • If you fail your Trials/Apprenticeship and wish to try again, you will be paired with a different Expert/Master for your next attempt.

Tips for Success & Potential Rewards »

If you are successful and have earned your Expert's/Master's approval as well as that of the Dark Council (a set of established Experts/Masters who will weigh in on your task(s) during your final week), you will be awarded the following:

  • An exclusive "Expert" or "Sith Master" forums medal.

  • "Expert" or "Sith Master" version of your new rank and all obtained ranks thereafter.

  • The ability to be an Expert or Master to future enrollees.

Expert/Master Responsibilities »

Experts/Masters will have a certain set of rules and operational guidelines in order to conduct a Trial/Apprenticeship as follows:

  • Trials/Apprenticeships must be conducted in fairness to the member's real-life. These systems are meant for fun, therefore they should not require the member to perform tasks that might be hindered by real-life responsibilities. For example, if the member is going to be away for a couple of days, you cannot require them to perform a task during that time.

  • It is okay to be cold and a harsh to the member from an RP-perspective (just as a Sith Master would be cold and unforgiving to an apprentice in the SW universe), but it is NOT acceptable to harass, insult or belittle the member outside of the confines of the context of the Trial/Apprenticeship. The guild's Code of Conduct and Charter still apply. If any such violation is found, your status as an available member to conduct the Trials/Master/Apprentice systems will be revoked and additional penalties may apply (depending on the severity of the incident).

  • You are only allowed to require a number of tasks at any one time as reasonable. Every task you are requiring of the member must be posted in the appropriate Trials/Master & Apprentice forums section. The Sovereigns will keep watch to ensure the tasks are appropriate and reasonable. If the leadership determines that the tasks are beyond reason, an intervention will take place to refine the tasks to a more appropriate level.

  • Experts/Masters must delegate AT LEAST one (1) task per week. If a week passes in which no tasks are assigned, your status as an available member to conduct the Trials/Master/Apprentice systems will be temporarily revoked and a new CO/Master will be assigned to the Trial/Apprenticeship.

  • Experts/Masters may only have one (1) Trial/Apprentices in their care at any given time. This is to ensure the systems are conducted thoroughly and with as much attention as possible. If more members wish to partake in the systems beyond the current number of available Experts/Masters, then a waiting list will be implemented and each member will be taken in order.
